YSL's Matte Lip Stain

My very first lipstick splurge at Sephora, which was a very monumental moment for me, was the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine in #3. It was also really the start of Pineapple Lipstick and one of my very first blog post that you can read here. I remember I was absolutely obsessed with the lipstick from it's pristine packaging and high end formula. This is almost a nostalgic post for me since Pineapple Lipstick recently turned three and I'm truly grateful for all my readers and the growth I was able to experience throughout the years. With that, let's go into the review of the new Yves Saint Laurent's Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain* I've been loving.

The color I got was #8, Black Red Code, which really is a deep burgundy. Dark colors are typically more popular in the Fall but I'm a big fan of them year round. It's a beautiful dark red color for a bold lip look that could spruce up any plain jane laundry day outfit. The matte lipstick formula has a slight floral scent, which I believe is typical for YSL lip products. Most matte lip products feel dry once it settles in but this one still feels pretty moisturized compared to most matte lipsticks. The one thing I will say is the applicator is very different from your typical liquid lip product. I did have a bit of a struggle in the beginning but eventually you'll get the hang of using the angle. Given that it's a dark color, do not skip out on cleaning up the lines with a lip liner. If you're looking to splurge on a higher end product, I definitely recommend going for YSL as there you can clearly see the high end packaging + formula.
