YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks

First off, I want to thank my amazing readers for sticking with me during my hiatus while I was in Hong Kong! I am (unfortunately) back in San Francisco and will be sharing with you guys my experience once I settle down. For now, let's dive straight into a lipstick review!

If it isn't already obvious, I'm a huge lipstick lover, hence pineapplelipstick.com... so it's no secret there. I wrote about my first Yves Saint Laurent lip purchase a few months ago (read more here) and I'm excited to tell you guys about two new colors added to my endless collection of lip products! I got two of YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks in #09, Rose Stiletto and #19, Fuchsia. I usually prefer darker colors but the uniqueness of these two shades of pink immediately caught my eye.
As always, YSL packaging and formula never fails. Both the box and lipstick packaging is consistent with the reflective gold color. The all around design of the gold packaging is absolutely gorgeous and helps the persona of YSL's high end branding. YSL also made sure to design everything down to the last detail. The lipstick cap can double as a mirror to help apply the color in the unfortunate case of forgetting your mirror at home. Next off, the intricate imprint of the YSL logo on the lipstick is my favorite aspect of the lipstick. It ties the whole lipstick together and adds beautiful value to the design.

I usually prefer matte finishes but this satin finish had a lot of postives! Some satin lipsticks require multiple applications to get a full colored application but of course YSL created a high pigmented formula, which gives the user a perfect amount of color in just one stroke! In addition to the formula's high pigment, it is also very hydrating so your lips can stay moisturized all day. $36 is pretty steep for a lipstick but once you put the packaging, intricate design details, and formula into consideration, it's definitely worth the investment!
The top swatch is #09, Rose Stiletto, is a great everyday color and I'd describe the shade to be a dusty rose. Rose Stiletto will be perfect for the upcoming Fall season when I'm reaching for a lighter Fall shade that isn't the vampy dark color. The bottom swatch, #19, Fuchsia, which is exactly as named. I would describe the shade being in-between hot pink and purple combined. Fucshia will most likely take a back seat this Fall and reappear more often when the Spring season rolls around next year. Both swatches in the photos are a total of two strokes so as you can see, the pigments of the colors are amazing.

Have any of you guys tried out other Yves Saint Laurent lip shades? I'd love to hear any of your thoughts and comments! I have yet to add a matte YSL lipstick to my collection so that may be coming up next!
