If you've never heard of or used peel-off masks before, get ready to have your mind blown! I'm sure we all know (but won't admit) how satisfying it is to see all the stuff that comes off your nose when you slowly peel off a blackhead remover strip. Or is that just me? Anyways, imagine that exact concept but for your entire face! If you don't believe me that such an amazing thing exists, keep reading! My go-to peel off masks products are Boscia's Luminizing Black Mask and First Aid Beauty's Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay.
Boscia's Luminizing Black Mask was the first peel off mask I bought and this was love at first try! I'll be honest, when I first bought this, I had no idea it was a peel off mask (or had any idea it existed) so I used YoutTube to figure out how to use it. This was something I randomly picked off the shelf at Sephora since I fell in the love Boscia. Knowing me, if I didn't YouTube it, I totally would've used this as a regular mask where you apply & rinse off after an x amount of time . A peel off mask is suggested to be used twice a week so my designated days are Tuesday & Thursday's. It comes after your cleanser so your routine becomes: cleanser, peel off mask, toner, and moisturizer.
To use, apply an even layer on your dry face- if wet, the mask won't be able to dry correctly. It'll take 30+ minutes to dry on your face completely, depending on how thick of a layer you put on. If you don't wait for the mask to completely dry, the peel off process won't work as it should. Prepare yourself because the next step is when you'll get the same satisfaction peeling off a blackhead nose strip.
Once dry, slowly peel off the mask from the outer edges, working your way into the center. As you peel, you'll be able to see all the blackheads and dirt come right off to the mask, aka the same concept as a nose strip. If there are any small spots left on your face, rinse it off with warm water. The science behind the mask is it's made with Calcium Montmorillonite Clay that draws out oil, dirt, and toxins deep inside of your pores. There are powerful antioxidants that firms your skin, shrinks the size of your pores, and reduces inflammation. Once dried, the mask strips away dead skin and excess oil to reveal immediate results of detoxed, purified, and brighter skin.
Since I loved Boscia's mask so much, it prompted me to purchase First Aid Beauty's Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay because I wanted to see what other options were out there. First Aid Beauty's peel-off mask made it to Allure's 2014 Best of Beauty Awards, so hats off to them. The instructions is the same as Boscia's - apply, wait, and peel. The difference between FAB vs. Boscia is FAB uses red clay to extract and absorb the impurities out of your skin. The rich mineral rich clay helps to reduce congested pigmentation problems that's leftover from previous pimples. Even though I cheated on Boscia and bought First Aid Beauty's peel off mask, I ended up loving them both. Both products are amazing and the thing I love most about them are instant results becuase who doesn't love that? If I had to choose one for your first peel off mask purchase, I would go with Boscia's. The reason for that is performance wise, I feel Boscia extracted a lot more stronger than First Aid Beauty since FAB seemed to dry thinner.
If you have yet to experience the greatness of a peel-off mask, go out and buy one right now!
