When I first read about the Beauty Blender, my first thought was probably the same as everyone else's. "Twenty dollars for a sponge, are you kidding me?" I debated for months before finally caving into the hype and I can tell you now, it is worth all 2,000 pennies. Take my word for it when I say it changes your life and dramatically simplifies your makeup application. I rock the 9-5 job lifestyle so I am by no means a morning person. I set my alarm to the latest time possible in order to maximize every minute of sleep and have mastered the art of applying makeup in thirty minutes or less.
Wet the entire Beauty Blender and squeeze out excess water so it's damp. I put liquid foundation onto my fingers and dab it on the following areas- my cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. Then, take the bottom round part of the Beauty Blender to bounce around my face to blend the foundation all together. Next, I use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer for my under-eye area and use the pointy side of the blender to blend it out. Next for all my contouring, I use the side of the sponge. Depending on how much time I have left, I'll contour with the sides of the Beauty Blender. I am able to create the base of my makeup in less than 10 minutes with the help of one tool, which is amazing.
Do not skip out on the cleanser -I can't stress how serious this is! Twenty dollars should be motivating enough to keep on top of cleaning it because it is for me. Make sure you clean it at least once a week. If you don't, a major germ build up will be going on (esp since it's used damp) and could lead to a breakout. In addition, when it gets too dirty, you'll no longer be able to clean it completely and need to throw twenty bucks down the drain. Even with the foundation soaked into the sponge, you should be able to clean it well enough for the original pink color to show again.
I became such a big advocate for the Beauty Blender, it was my favorite gift to give during the holidays - especially for those who were very skeptical of the price. My Mom and best friends who got this for Christmas from me absolutely loved it. A tip I have that can save you money is buying the Beauty Blender Duo Set from Sephora for $40 because it comes with two Beauty Blenders and a 5oz cleanser. If you buy the Beauty Blender ($20) and cleanser ($18) separately, it's already $38. The pack means you're getting a second Beauty Blender for $2. The only downside of the pack is it is only sold online so if you're willing to wait a few extra days for shipping, I highly recommend the pack instead.
If you are still skeptical, you really need to go out and get your hands on this bad boy because I was once in your shoes. Trust me when I say this simplifies your makeup routine and can cut your application time in half!
